The DB9 is fitted with a 450-horsepower version of the 6-liter V12 engine that is also installed in Aston Martin’s V12 Vanquish S. It is available with a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission, which uses shift-by-wire gear changing and can be taken through the gears manually using paddles behind the steering wheel. Top speed is declared to be over 186 mph.
The DB9 is constructed from an aluminum-bonded unibody frame, whose lightness and hardness provide excellent velocity and a comfortable trip. A rear-mounted transaxle contributes to the ideal front-to-rear weight distribution, which, along with a twin A-arm suspension and 19-inch wheels and tires, creates easy steering without any unrest. Dynamic Stability Control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and Brake Assist guarantee safe cornering and stopping, regardless of the weather or road conditions.
Electroluminescent displays and conventional instruments go wonderfully with the stylish and beautiful interior.
The DB9 Volante (a convertible) has a multilayered, fully automatic supple roof with a glass rear window which is fitted with a warmer.
Options for both models include a color-keyed, leather covered steering wheel and a 950-watt audio system by Linn, a well-known British high-end home audio equipment manufacturer.
